Ben Collins, better known as The Stig on Top Gear, recently got behind the wheel of a Lucid Air Sapphire edition and managed to achieve an 8.989 second quarter mile run at Sonoma Raceway, which is a tad bit faster than the 9.3 second Tesla Model S Plaid.
Why is it so fast? The Lucid Air Sapphire comes equipped with a tri-motor setup that generates an impressive 1,234 hp, enabling it to hit 60 mph in a mere 1.89 seconds, while hitting a top speed of 205 mph. Ben Collins touted its massive brake discs and grip, making it perfect for both the track as well as regular roads. Just one caveat: it’s priced at $249,000 USD, which is nearly 3-times the $89,990 base Tesla Model S Plaid.
