A Honda 0 SUV prototype was shown to the world for the first time this week at a big event in Tokyo, Japan, called the Red Bull Showrun x Powered by Honda. The highlight was Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen, a famous race car driver, who got to drive this all-electric SUV. This happened right before the Japanese Grand Prix race at the Suzuka Circuit, which made it even more thrilling.

The Honda 0 SUV is part of a new lineup called the Honda 0 Series, first revealed at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It’s built from scratch as an electric vehicle (EV) and follows Honda’s idea of being “Thin, Light, and Wise,” which means it’s roomy inside, easy to see out of, and flexible to use. At the Tokyo event, it had a cool design wrap with sharp lines and shiny light effects, showing off Honda’s new style for electric cars.

Verstappen, who’s won the F1 Drivers’ World Championship four years in a row (2021-2024), drove the SUV on a street demo with other F1 drivers like Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, and Isack Hadjar. The event was a party for the six-year teamwork between Honda and Red Bull Racing, which has led to over 63 F1 wins and two team championships (2022, 2023). They also showed off famous Honda-powered F1 cars, like the RB16B and the RA272—the first Japanese car to win an F1 race back in 1965.

This wasn’t just about Verstappen showing off his driving—it was a big moment for Honda jumping into electric vehicles. The Honda 0 SUV will be the first of the 0 Series to start being made in 2026 at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, and it’ll be sold in North America, Japan, Europe, and more. It’s loaded with fancy new tech, including something called the ASIMO OS that makes the digital stuff inside feel personal and tailored, which is a pretty big deal for Honda’s future.
