Sure, the Nissan Z may be popular with JDM enthusiasts, but it just doesn’t have the wow factor to win over the traditional crowd. Industrial designer Valentin Komkov’s Nissan 500SX Concept aims to change that.
You won’t find an electric powertrain or even a hybrid, as the 500SX is powered by a traditional ICE engine. This would make sense as the Nissan Z is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L VR30DDTT V6 engine making up to 420 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a 9-speed Jatco JR913E/Mercedes-9G-Tronic automatic transmission or a 6-speed FS6R31A manual gearbox. We imagine the production version of the 500SX offering a similar powertrain and the option for both gearboxes.
