Porsche 928 Risky Business Tom Cruise Barrett Jackson
Remember that 1979 Porsche 928 that Tom Cruise drove in “Risky Business”? Well, it just sold for a whopping $1.98-million at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Houston, Texas. More specifically, this is the ‘hero car’ from Paul Brickman’s 1983 film.

For those unfamiliar with what went on behind the scenes of “Risky Business”, there were a total of three 1979 Porsche 928s used during the filming of the famous chase scene, but this one apparently was driven the most. Now fans of the film probably remember Tom Cruise, playing Joel Goodson, looking into the camera and saying: ‘Porsche. There is no substitute.’ It’s powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.5L V8 engine making 219 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

We can’t wait for our January 2022 Scottsdale Auction, when we’ll celebrate everything we’ve accomplished over our 50-year history, in true Barrett-Jackson fashion,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.
