Porsche enthusiasts fill the void left by official announcements with their own ideas and Ugur Sahin has done one of the best. From his studio in the Netherlands, Sahin unveiled renderings of the Porsche 960 GT RS, a concept that picks up where the 918 left off a decade ago.
Sahin calls his creation a self started exploration of what a 918 follow up might look like today. He builds on the original’s hybrid configuration and track ready nature, aiming for a car that can do cross country drives as well as circuit laps. The end result is a car that’s comfortable for long drives and quick in a straight line, all wrapped in a body that pays homage to Porsche’s past while striving for cleaner power sources. Dual exhaust tips sit low at the back, a subtle reminder of engine noise even as the design hints at electric assistance under the skin. Gullwing doors swing up, like the DeLorean but refined for a low slung hypercar, for easy access to a cabin for two for hours on end.

Up front, the nose cuts through the air with sharp lines like the 918 but Sahin adds smoother curves around the headlights to soften the approach. Those units glow with slim LED strips stacked vertically for a predatory gaze that cuts the night. Air intakes flank the bumper, wide and functional, to pull in cool air for whatever powerplant is behind—perhaps a turbocharged flat six with batteries, delivering torque without drama. The hood is flat and low, uninterrupted save for subtle vents, keeping the visual weight forward where it belongs in a mid engine layout.
From the side, the 960 GT RS shows its whole length in a clean and simple shape. A long, low greenhouse lies above the cockpit, with tinted glass that wraps around to provide a sensation of enclosure without isolation. The roofline softly drops towards the back, forming a wedge shape that creates urgency even when at rest. Side mirrors are mounted on slim stalks that are aerodynamically adjusted to slice through the wind, while door handles are flush with the panels. Sahin pays respect to Porsche’s wheel arch heritage with flared fenders that embrace the tires while hollowing out the back haunches just enough to simulate motion, as if the car leans into each corner before you even turn the wheel.
Those wheels are worth stopping for—spindle-patterned alloys with a concave centre, like the deep-dish classics of the 1970s but with a futuristic twist. They have wide, low-profile tyres that grip the road like it owes the car money. Sahin chose a silver finish that catches the light in the spokes like turbine blades, referencing Porsche’s racing heritage. In motion, they’d blur into gleaming halos, highlighting the car’s speed.
At the back, the design draws you in with a full-width LED bar that runs from side to side, glowing in a thin, unbroken line for the taillights that double as a signature. It frames the dual exhausts beautifully, with the outlets slanted out like an afterthought on a sculpture. The diffuser below sucks air from under the floorpan, while a small wing emerges from the decklid at speed, adjustable for downforce without blocking the lines. Sahin opened up the engine bay with a glass lid, a modern touch that lets owners show off the mechanical heart—valves firing, belts whirring—in a way that feels personal not showy.
