One Island, One Porsche Describes the World’s Only Carrera T Formosa

In the world of bespoke cars, few stories illustrate the enduring allure of place as perfectly as this one does. Porsche has for decades had a talent for translating a customer’s modest desire into a machine that is as eye-catching as it is exhilarating on the open road. Then there’s the 911 Carrera T Formosa, a one-of-a-kind creation designed by the firm to reflect the curves and colors of Taiwan. Conceived through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch concept, it distills the intense excitement of the Carrera T into a plethora of features drawn directly from Taiwan’s beaches and mountain peaks.

Taiwan’s nickname was first given by sailors who saw its verdant hills from the sea and couldn’t take their gaze away. Formosa, which meaning beautiful island, is a clear description that has stood the test of time. Porsche’s designers adopted this concept and ran with it, starting with a 911 painted in the stunning Ipanema Blue Metallic. This color has a mesmerizing effect in the light, much like the Pacific waters that lap on Taiwan’s coastline. They also added Suzuka Grey Metallic trim to the rear lettering, side window trim, and engine lid slats. These grey accents complement the rough stone cliff faces along the east coast, where the waves have etched out cliffs that are both wild and ageless. The black HD-Matrix LED headlights keep things understated up front, while the taillights feature a distinctive design that sharpens the back image without shouting loudly or off-key. The 20-inch front and 21-inch rear RS Spyder wheels finished in Suzuka Grey with Vanadium Grey inner rims tie it all together.




When you open that door, you’re transported into the universe created by the designers, with every detail a celebration of the island’s natural majesty. The magnificent Paldao wood trim on the dash and doors is the real deal, sourced directly from Taiwan’s mountain forests, with rich grain and veined patterns that evoke the soil itself. The soft Truffle Brown and Black leather on the bucket seats appears to have been fashioned for you, with black Night Green stitching that perfectly complements the leather’s natural lines. The interior designers went a step further with a slick checkered pattern called Formosa, which appears on the seat inserts in Night Green, Black, and Cream White and even spills onto the car’s front boot. It’s completely lined in leather from top to bottom, including the Formosa pattern stitched into the stitching. When you look up at the headrests, you’ll see a delicate Carrera T shape with crashing waves and a mountain silhouette, which truly sets the mood.




The 3.0-liter flat-six engine, which is a Carrera T staple, produces 388 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. When you harness that type of power, you get a thrilling ride that pinches you back through corners while never losing its calm. A six-speed manual transmission puts you firmly in control, with each change clicking home as intended. The suspension has been tuned to tackle those winding roads that hug hills and the sea, allowing it to cut through turns with surprising ease. At 3,200 pounds, this is a seriously lightweight car, which makes it a lot of fun to drive, dancing around turns with agility that will make you smile from ear to ear. As it happens, it will also accelerate comfortably past 182 miles per hour and absolutely rocket from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds flat.
