Skydream Caravan Looks Like a Luxurious Spaceship on Wheels

The Skydream Caravan is unlike anything else you will find on a campsite. Stretching 26.5 feet with sweeping curves lifted straight from spaceship design language, it looks like something that has absolutely no business being towed down a highway. Multiple axles keep it firmly on the ground, and at 6,400 pounds it sits well within the towing capacity of most SUVs, which means the hardest part might just be convincing yourself it’s real.

Pulling into a campsite and getting set up takes a single tap in the app. Stabilizer legs drop down, the air suspension levels the floor so you can walk around without stooping, a full side deck swings out to create an elevated patio, the awning unfurls, and the edge lighting comes on, all in one smooth, unhurried sequence. By the time you have taken in the view, the hard work is already done.


The patio deck connects directly to the kitchen counter, which makes the whole outdoor cooking experience feel genuinely seamless. Bar stools can be positioned inside or out depending on the mood, so guests can settle in and enjoy the surroundings while the induction burners do their thing. The long counter pulls double duty as a prep and serving surface, and with the side open to the outside the whole setup feels less like cooking in a caravan and more like preparing a meal with nothing but fresh air and a great view for company.


Step inside and the front bedroom greets you with oversized glass windows that flood the space with natural light and frame the surroundings like a painting. The bed adjusts at the touch of a button, shifting from a flat sleeping position to a reclined lounge, and blackout shades slide down when you’re ready to shut the world out. A projection screen drops from the ceiling to turn the room into a private cinema, and the rear living area offers its own versatility, with an L-shaped sofa that folds out into a second bed when you need the extra sleeping space.

The main kitchen sits at the heart of the caravan and is well equipped to say the least, with a generous counter, a large fridge, a microwave, a wine rack, and a retractable stove hood that keeps things looking clean when it isn’t in use. A washing machine tucks in behind the counter, and purified water runs straight from the taps. The bathroom is split into two separate sections with the shower and toilet divided from one another, which goes a long way toward keeping things feeling spacious and organized when multiple people are sharing the space.


Everything can be controlled through voice commands or the built-in touchscreens, and selecting a single mode is enough to prepare either living area for a movie night, adjusting the seats, lowering the blinds, and dimming the lights all in one go. A robot vacuum runs on a set schedule to keep the floors tidy without any input from you, and a full set of 360 degree cameras lets you keep an eye on the surroundings from wherever you happen to be sitting.

Power comes from a twin lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity ranging from 45 to 85 kilowatt hours, backed up by roof mounted solar panels capable of generating up to 2,200 watts on a good day. An electric vehicle style connector keeps charging quick and straightforward, and regenerative braking puts energy back into the system while the caravan is being towed. The end result, according to owners, is the ability to live completely off grid for up to two weeks without any issues.


The Skydream can locate the tow vehicle’s hitch on its own, lock itself into place through the app, and then actively work to keep itself stable and tracking straight down the road, taking the stress out of the sway and correction that usually comes with towing a large trailer. Electric drive motors built directly into the chassis ease the burden on the tow vehicle as well, helping the whole setup move through the air more efficiently and making the drive feel far more manageable than you might expect.

Future off road variants are in the works alongside the existing highway focused lineup. Skydream will be showing off their first American unit in Silicon Valley on March 23rd, with plans to begin delivering to customers across the country by December
