South Pasadena Tesla Model Y Model 3 Police Fleet
South Pasadena is the first city in the nation to utilize an all-electric police fleet, or the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 to be more specific. South Pasadena Police Chief Brian Solinsky said this transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric started with the city council a decade ago.

The South Pasadena Police Department received $1.3 million in funding to make the transition to EVs, and each Tesla is expected to save approximately $4,000 yearly on energy costs over the ICE models they replaced. The Tesla Model Y-based vehicles will be used in pursuits, while the Model 3 are for administrative use.
