BMW M5 CS vs M 1000 RR Superbike Drag Racing
Is it possible for a BMW M5 CS luxury sports sedan to beat a BMW M 1000 RR superbike in a drag race? Most would say no, but CarWow wanted to be sure, so they pit the two against each other in the ultimate showdown. For starters the BMW M5 CS is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 engine making 627 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, mated to an 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission.

Now the BMW M 1000 RR superbike may be smaller, but it is definitely no slouch. Power comes from a 999cc inline-4 engine generating 205 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed transmission. One thing you have to note is that the 1000 RR can hit 60 mph in just 3.1-seconds, while topping out at 174 mph. Compared to the BMW M5 CS’s 0-62 mph time of 2.9-seconds, you’d think the sedan would win every single race, but this drag racing showdown shows why that is not the case.
