Would you drive a 24K gold-plated Tesla Cybertruck? If so, then you’ll have to shell out at least $60,000 USD just for the gold alone, and that does not include the vehicle itself.
However, this wasn’t just a spray-on job that took a few hours to complete. The Cybertruck’s gold-plating process required three steps: electro clean the stainless steel panels to make them hydrophilic, before using acid to soften the surface and make them gold ready. Lastly, they had to apply the 24K gold and cobalt mixture, which involved a platinized titanium brush as a positive electrode and a magnetic negative copper electrode with a thin sheet of gold.
