Japanese tuner Kuhl Racing begins with the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 series, a rock-solid off-road vehicle with a reputation for dependability in the most difficult terrain, and Kuhl takes it a step further with the Blocker Iron Build kit.
There’s a lot of steel going on; the entire body is covered from front to back, and the package includes front and rear bumper guards to make it even more robust. Even though it has a considerable amount of height to it, the side stairs make it easy to enter and exit. You can really see the pipe fenders flaring out at 2.8 inches in diameter to accommodate those massive wheels.

A branded skid plate protects the underside; it’s all about being ready for whatever comes next. On top is a full roof rack with a 40-inch IPF LED light bar, ready to illuminate the night on those lengthy off-road journeys. You also get a roof wing extension and a stylish spoiler on the tailgate, which give it an aggressive appearance. But it’s all about the suspension – a height-adjustable setup combined with JAOS 7-inch spacers provides a significant lift. The ride height is boosted by 178 millimeters, resulting in a ground clearance of 399 millimeters, more than enough to stop any road-bashing vehicle in its tracks.

The wheels for the build are 22 inches in diameter and using Kuhl Verz DR03 alloys with a deep dish design. They are fitted with 37-inch-tall Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 mud-terrain tyres. They grip like crazy on loose roads, but they’re just as comfortable, if not more so, on the road. One early variant has 18-inch Verz-Kross X6 wheels with cross-country rubber to give it a more understated look.

The engine remains the factory 2.7-litre gasoline unit, which is understandable given that all of the effort and alteration is focused on the exterior and appearance. So it’s more of a visual alteration than a power gain. Compared to a Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4², the Kuhl construction appears more solid. It’s substantially taller and sticks out on trails or streets; no need to make an effort to attract attention.

Kuhl intends to introduce the product during the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2026. The next step is a sportier FRP body kit, which provides an entirely new look with fancy re-designed bumpers, wheel cut-outs, and broad fender extensions. It was shown off during the Osaka Auto Messe. Buyers can select between whole vehicles and kits. The initial VX trim example is offered at roughly $43,300, so it’s not exactly a bargain, and upgrades add another $5,900.
